Insha’Allah

Category: Articlesmansoor @ 9:28 am

‘Insha’Allah’ is the tragic and heartbreaking story of Farhan, Sahar, and their new baby daughter Reem. Set in modern day Pakistan in the city of Karachi, ‘Insha’Allah’ challenges audiences to address head on the issues of people smuggling and the selling of children, whilst seeing the effects these issues have on the people involved or left behind. Unlike reading news articles and press releases from charities and aid agencies, ‘Insha’Allah’ puts faces and emotions to the people affected, albeit in a fictional context.
‘Insha’Allah’ is about knowing what you can lose, when gambling your life for more.

Mohib Mirza gets IFF nomination

Category: Articlesmansoor @ 8:13 am

First Pakistani actor nominated for award by British association – IFF
Mohib Mirza’s acting credentials are pretty much known. The talented actor began his career with Sahira Kazmi’s drama serial, Zaibunnisa. He then went on to do a variety of roles, including comedic (did a pretty good job there too) and impressed a lot of people in and out of the showbiz industry with his effortless performances.

One of Mohib’s recent acting assignments was a challenging part in a film entitled Insha-Allah, directed by a chap by the name of Khurram Mahmood. The film has received a great many accolades, including a nomination for Best Foreign Language Film for 2009 at the International Film-maker Festival on Oct 29. The festival has also nominated Mohib Mirza for Best Supporting Actor. Actors Brian Capron (Ambleton Delight) James Tweedy (Where Seagulls Cry a Song) and Michael Worth (Complacent) have been given the nod in the same category.

This is indeed a great honour not only for MM but also for Pakistan, where actors don’t acquire formal training and are thrown into this demanding field of art to prove their mettle. Way to go! But don’t let it go to your head.
