There’s a buzz in local showbiz circles about a Punjabi film titled Channa Sachi Muchi, which is slated to be screened on Eid-ul-Azha. Those who are in the know, or who know the Punjabi film business, believe it has all the elements that can turn it into the next Choorian — no Gujjars, no hardcore violence, no ungainly moves; rather it’s a soft romantic film set a little after Partition. It also has believable sound effects (no jarring dhishon dhishon of below the belt punches), and the background score is a blend of subcontinental music and western orchestration. The flick has Choorian’s lead pair, Moammar Rana and Saima as well.
Hmm… we shall cross the bridge when we come to it. In this case, we’ll praise it or take it to the cleaners when we see it. Till then sachi seems muchi or muchi could be sachi.
