Is completely natural, charming and tremendously funny says Shobha Ispahani
Mahnoor Baloch can be somewhat elusive, so, not surprisingly, pinning her down for an interview took some coaxing, but once committed, she displayed true professionalism by showing up on time, wardrobe and assistant in tow. We chatted for a while, and then agreed to shoot first. The photographer had barely finished identifying the frames when Mahnoor emerged all ready for the shoot. With chameleon-like speed she went from outfit to outfit, and we were left gasping at the speed with which she finished the photo shoot.
Before long, we sank into deep sofas, ordered coffee and sandwiches and started to talk.
Q — Could you tell us a little about your student days – school, college, etc.?
A — I was born in Karach’; studied at St Lawrence’s and also in Dubai at Arab Unity School, and did my BA privately.
Q — Why did you not attend college for your Bachelors?
A — I got married very young, and was asked by the family to continue my education from the house.
Q — How old were you when you got married?
A — I was only 16 years old.
Q — Was it an arranged marriage?
A. No. Hamid and I have known each other since we were kids; in fact, our fathers were great friends. Once the family realized that we were keen on each other, they gave us their consent and blessings and we got married.
Q — Were you already in show biz when you got married?
A– No, I started my career after my marriage.
